In 1984, I moved to Fresno to study physical therapy at Fresno State (CSU, Fresno) on a track and field scholarship. Although I was primarily a jumper, my specialty was the decathlon. It was during my years in track and field sports that I developed an interest in the study of movement and in physical therapy. I had a great experience on the Fresno State track team, and in 1989, I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in physical therapy. Fresno State was also where I met my wife, and Fresno is where we settled. Over the years, I have worked in outpatient orthopedics, but I have also held operational positions in the corporate world of physical therapy, with various leadership responsibilities, including management of over 50 physical therapy practices in five western states. In 2008, I decided to leave the corporate world and get back to my roots by starting my own outpatient practice.
On December 1, 2008, I opened First Choice Physical Therapy and began treating patients again. That day, I started with just one aide, and the two of us treated patients and answered phones, providing highly personalized care for our patients. The clinic has continued to grow, but it is still small enough to maintain that personal touch we enjoyed in the beginning. We have grown to 10 staff members who are all committed to our tradition of providing excellent, personalized care. Outside of work, my wife and I enjoy traveling, winter sports, water sports, and all the outdoor activities the Valley has to offer.

Physical Therapy Assistant, candidate CAFS
I studied kinesiology at Cal State University, Fullerton then attended the Physical Therapist Assistant Certification Program at Cerritos College. I joined the team at First Choice as a Physical Therapist Assistant in 2019. I’m currently working on my Certificate of Applied Functional Science, which is making me passionate about functional movement assessment to enhance performance of work-related tasks, activities of daily life, fitness, and recreational activities. I believe in creating a positive and joyful environment for healing and love motivating patients to strive towards ambitious goals.
I was born and raised in Los Angeles county and resided in Whittier for 27 years. During my free time, I enjoy spending time with family, fishing, hiking, and camping. I also enjoy exploring new coastal cities, sushi restaurants, and coffee shops.
Amandeep Kaur
Physical Therapy Assistant
While studying kinesiology of exercise science at Fresno State, I joined the OPTS club to better understand physical therapy. Through the OPTS club, I learned about Parkinson’s research at the physical therapy department. I volunteered in Parkinson’s research for a year to get more insight about the disease because my grandfather had Parkinson’s disease. I wanted to help him maintain his independence with functional activities. After graduating from Fresno State, I enrolled in a PTA program at Institute of Technology. I joined the team at First Choice Physical Therapy at the beginning of 2020. I am passionate about improving patient’s quality of life by helping them to maintain or achieve independence. I will continue to learn and grow by furthering my education.
Aside from working, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I was born in a small village in India. I moved to America at the age of 10 without knowing any English. During my spare time, I indulge in creating art. I mostly like to make animal portraits.
